STRAIGHT TALK

Apparently things can get pretty heated when deciding how to pronounce the new year. According to twentynot2000.com, it’s best to keep it down to a few syllables. Or maybe we just find the persnickety site appealing for it’s clean design.

Keep things simple this year with Seesaw Design’s 2010 letterpress calendar.

Who cares how you say the new year when you have these vibrant designs popping out of your wall? The pages draw from the organic shapes of Matisse’s Jazz series, as well as Frank Lloyd Wright’s aesthetic, as he is cited on the calendar’s behind: Stay close to nature. It will never fail you.”

What FLW really meant was to avoid random links on Twitter and stay focused on beautiful stationery.

Let’s play a design version of “Where’s Waldo”.

Did you spot a copy of PH-produced Rice Design Alliance architecture and design review, Cite? Unplggd, a site for people who embrace technology and design in their home, recently featured Chris Nguyen’s Houston apartment (including this coffee table) as one of its Top Tours in The Homies 2009 awards. Unplggd took note of Chris’ interpretation of a small space with an excellent eye for incorporating technology with carefully considered style, all with homegrown solutions. And based on his reading selection, he clearly has award-winning taste. Take the tour for yourself.

New Year’s Resolution #3

Test your trendiness to see how many places you haven’t been to yet; you may be surprised. Of course, you’re already familiar with page 74 – Wallpaper recommends PH Design Shop as a not to be missed atelier.
